Healthy snacks under 100 calories
When looking for healthy snacks, it’s always best to prepare them yourself says our nutritionist. With this in mind keep the ingredients as simple and as close to nature as possible.
Sweet carrots with dip
The benefit of raw vegetables: you can enjoy unlimited amounts, they are full of nutrients and low in calories. Dip 100 grams of sweet carrots (27 kcal) in 25 grams of humus (70 kcal). Perfect snacks!
An egg is a perfect powerful snack, it only contains 75 calories and has a good dose of protein which gives you a quick feeling of satiety. This healthy snack is also rich in vitamin B12 and therefore good for your hair and nails :-).
Nuts about nuts
With a portion of almonds you will receive 37% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin E. Almonds are also full of antioxidants, magnesium, proteins and fibre. Take a handful (25 grams) to get your daily need. Not a big fan of almonds? Try cashew, walnut, pecan, macadamia, hazels or other nuts to get your fix. Burned, raw or roasted? All nuts are good as long as they’re not sweetened or salted.
Did you know that a Bell pepper contains 5 times more vitamin C than an orange? With 1 Bell pepper you get a high amount of fibre, vitamins, potassium, magnesium and only 40 calories.
Do you want something sweet? Dates are a great source of vitamin C, potassium and fibre. With 5-6 dates you are consuming just under 100 calories.
The smell and taste of freshly made popcorn is fulfilling our desire! Easy to make and due to the high amount of fibre it makes us fuller for longer. 30grams of popcorn is almost equal to 100 calories. For an added twist sprinkle some lemon rasp or chilli flakes to give them that extra flavour. Snack time!
An avocado is very healthy, full of good fats but be aware this little friend is also high in calories. Half an avocado will keep you below 100 calories. For extra taste sprinkle lemon juice and chili flakes over it or add a little bit of fresh pepper & sea salt.
Cherry tomatoes contain twice as many antioxidants as large tomatoes. This is because they have relatively more ‘skin’. A 250g box of cherry tomatoes contains 75 calories, perfect for when you get a snack-attack!
